Sapphire Point Elopement near Breckenridge

On Swan Mountain Road, in between Keystone and Breckenridge, is a scenic overlook called Sapphire Point. Sitting at 9,500′, Sapphire Point is a short walk from a small parking area offering expansive views of Lake Dillon framed by the Ten Mile and Gore mountain ranges in the background. Tourists flock to this now well-known spot to take in one of the best views in Summit County.

The small landing at Sapphire Point makes for an ideal setting for an elopement or tiny wedding. It can be reserved for private gatherings via recreation.gov but you can still plan on seeing a fair share of tourists milling about. For Amanda & Josh, they got one of those rare and magical days that was seemingly just for them. Not another soul was around and the weather was perfectly crisp, cool, and sunny.

Phil Gallagher officiated their ceremony, I documented quietly, and an hour later they were wed and off to their private celebratory dinner in Breckenridge. Proof that getting married can be as simple or elaborate as your heart desires.
